About the department:
The department of chemistry(U.G) was started in the year 1996 with an intention of providing quality education to the students to the maximum extent possible. The chemistry subject was offered with an a combination of mathematics and physics.
In the year 2014, the department was re-established with new combination i.e Mathematics, Chemistry and Computers.

Mission:
- To create and maintain the programs of excellence in the areas of research, education and public outreach.
- To promote, inspire and nature the fundamentals of chemistry through UG courses offered for the basic sciences, applied science students.

Chemistry I SEM inorganic and physical chemistry:
- Students can developed understanding on the preparation, properties and apply the knowledge in day-to-day applications of compounds from p, d and f-block elements
- Students can analyze and grasp the knowledge on principles and applications of d- & f-block elements
- Students may analyze the concepts in solid state chemistry, its applications and the concept of X-ray diffraction on crystals
- Students can develop a solid understanding on the basics of gaseous state, gas equations
- Students can gain knowledge in solutions, their purification methods and liquid crystals
Chemistry II SEM Organic and general chemistry:
- Students can be able to understand and explain the differential behavior of organic compounds based on fundamental concepts learnt.
- Students may be able to formulate the mechanism of organic reactions by recalling and correlating the fundamental properties of the reactants involved
- Students can learn and identify many organic reaction mechanisms including Free Radical Substitution, Electrophilic Addition and Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution
- Students may be able to understand and analyze the concepts that led to the atomic structure, quantum mechanics and the chemical bonding
- Students can be able to correlate and apply the stereochemical properties of organic compounds and reactions
 
Chemistry III SEM Organic and Spectroscopy:
- Students can be able to understand and explain the differential behavior of organic compounds based on fundamental concepts learnt.
- Students may be able to formulate the mechanism of organic reactions by recalling and correlating the fundamental properties of the reactants involved.
- Students can understand the concepts of IR, NMR spectroscopy.
- Students can ale to understand and learn the mechanism and named reactions.

At the end of course ,the student will able to:
- To learn about the laws of a absorption of light energy by molecules and the subsequent photochemical reactions.
- To understand the concept of quantum efficiency and mechanism of photo chemical reactions.

At the end of course ,the student will able to:
- understand of boundary conditions and quantization, probability distribution,most probable values, uncertainty and expectation values.
- Application of quantization to spectroscopy
- Various types of spectra and their instructed determination
Chemistry V SEM synthetic organic chemistry:
Students after successful completion of the course will be able to:
- Identify the importance of reagents used in the synthesis of organic compounds
- Acquire knowledge on basics concepts in different types of pericyclic reactions.
- Understand the importance of retro synthesis in organic chemistry.
- Comprehend the applications of different reactions in synthesis organic chemistry.
Chemistry V SEM Analysis of Organic compounds:
Students after successful completion of the course will be able to:
- Identify the importance of mass spectroscopy in the structural elucidation of organic compounds.
- Acquire the knowledge on structural elucidation of organic compounds.
- Understand the various chromatography methods in the separation and identification of organic compounds.
